Orthocarve. Orthopedic Technology Milling Models

01.

Intro of case

Built and optimized a custom B2B platform for Orthocarve, a family-run workshop producing CNC-milled orthopedic models (Fräsmodellen) from client-uploaded 3D scan files using a 7-axis robot. The site enables order creation, secure file uploads, production tracking, invoicing, and delivery notes – all tailored for Sanitätshäuser (orthopedic supply houses) in Germany.
  • Upload portal for STL/3D files with production → fast delivery
  • Customer dashboard for orders, downloads, and invoices
  • German-focused UX (upcoming full translation)
  • Integrated email (viethen@orthocarve.de primary)

Work challenges

Heavy customizations causing Ul bugs (customer fields, order editing, multi-file downloads)
Email migration complexities (paid vs free Hostinger plans, IMAP sync issues, large 7-year archives)
0 Domain transfers (fräsmodelle.de/fraesmodelle.de from lonos) and nameserver setup
WooCommerce analytics discrepancies (retroactive VAT/shipping additions skewing % changes)
Invoice PDF redesign (address swaps, heading reposition) requiring deep plugin overrides
Client feedback: English barriers → German translation priority; upload limits/file visibility issues

Main result

A custom WooCommerce setup was implemented to support order creation, file uploads (including STL and 3D scans), and a structured production workflow. The customer portal was enhanced with a single download button for all files, increased upload limits from 10MB to 100MB, and a default STL file filter to improve usability. Order and invoice management issues were resolved by enabling customer field inputs, allowing product additions to existing orders, and refining company name handling.

Additionally, PDF invoices and delivery notes were redesigned with improved layout adjustments and preparation for German translation. Email migration and setup were completed via Hostinger, including IMAP fixes and paid plan configuration. Domain and email issues were troubleshooted, including domain pointing and nameserver updates from IONOS. WooCommerce analytics were corrected to resolve discrepancies caused by shipping and VAT adjustments, while security and UX improvements included removing login calculations and disabling unnecessary order confirmation emails. Ongoing revisions also covered mobile compatibility and storage and email plan optimizations.
Core Setup: Customized WooCommerce for file-based custom orders, with secure uploads and production workflow.
UX Fixes: Unified download button, raised upload limit to 100MB, default STL filter, order editing restored.
Invoicing: Redesigned PDF templates (swapped From/Bill-to blocks, repositioned "Rechnung" heading); prepped for German strings.
Email/Domains: Migrated accounts to Hostinger (handled paid plan pitfalls, refunds, re-imports for sync); pointed additional domains from lonos.
Analytics: Reset WooCommerce stats, explained/corrected net vs total sales differences caused by post-import adjustments.
Security/Email: Removed unnecessary login barriers, disabled auto-confirmation emails (only invoice/delivery notes sent).
Ongoing: Real-time troubleshooting, mobile checks, storage advice, and translation planning.
